Three New Openings In Dublin
A coffee and plant shop in Stoneybatter, an Argentinean bakery in Dublin 8, and an antiques inspired café in Santry. Here's the latest openings we think you should know about...
Bakeology, Dublin 8
Dublin's first Argentinean bakery, Bakeology, opened on Meath Street yesterday, selling facturas, alfajores, empanadas and a lot of dulce de leche. Their facturas (a distant cousin of the Danish pastry) will be filled with custard, membrillo (quince paste), and of course dulce de leche, and they'll also have medialunas (like croissants), libritos (named because the puff pastry layers make them look like the pages of a book), and tortitas negras - little cakes covered in brown sugar. Find Bakeology at 43 Meath Street, seven days a week from 09:00 - 17:00.
Little Cactus, Stoneybatter
Little Cactus owners Kate and Jamie grew up in Dublin, but their passion for coffee, plants and vintage clothes really came to light after moving to Vancouver and discovering concept coffee and retail shops. When the couple decided to move home after the pandemic hit, they decided the time was right to bring their own concept coffee shop to Dublin. Little Cactus opened in Stoneybatter last week and is focused on quality coffee (from Bailies), beautiful houseplants (particularly cacti), and vintage clothes, and we can't think of a better café concept for Dublin's coolest neighbourhood. Pastries are from Tartine, treats from Blasta Kitchen and sandwiches from Greenville Deli. Find Little Cactus at 1a Prussia Street from Wednesday - Sunday.
Coffee Run, Santry
Coffee Run owner Paul Murphy is an athlete in his spare time, hence the name, and wanted to open a café with a rustic, vintage, antique-y feel, so expect lots of antique radios, telephones and clocks around the place. Sandwiches and pastries come from Tailor and Blue in Phibsborough, coffee is from Drury Tea & Coffee in Youghal, and ice-cream is from Freezin Friesian, from Paul's hometown of Waterford. They're on Northwood Avenue, just between Santry and Ballymun, and open seven days a week.
