5 Things We Want To Eat In Dublin This Week

Cheese. Cheese cheese cheese. Cheese. Cheese cheese cheese cheese cheese cheese. Cheese. Cheese. Cheese cheese cheese. Cheese. Cheese cheese. Cheese. Cheese cheese cheese cheese cheese cheese cheese cheese cheese. Cheese.

We’ve been thinking about cheese a LOT lately, and it's probably Instagram wot did it. Here are five cheesy things we want to eat in Dublin this week.

Cheese.

1) Cheese, Onion And Potato Pie From Uno Mas

In a world where we can be anything, we’d like to be sitting on a stool in Uno Mas. Simple dream. Until that can become a reality again, we’ll have to make do with their click and collect menu (operating from Thursday to Saturday with delivery available Saturday and Sunday) and this Abondance cheese, caramelised onion and potato pie, served with asparagus, shiitake and buttermilk.

2) Stracciatella Di Bufala From Oliveto

Proof that cheesy doesn’t have to be heavy, Oliveto in Dún Laoghaire have this dish of charred baby leeks, stracciatella di bufala, pistachio and agretti in development and we would love to see it on the menu soon. If it does land, get in there before anyone else finds out.

3) Pão De Queijo From Aventura Café

Aventura, operating out of two trailers in Portmarnock train station and on Paddy’s Hill in Malahide/Portmarnock, have started serving pão de queijo, a traditional Brazilian snack and popular breakfast food. The light, puffy, slightly salty cheese bread bite also pairs really well with a cold beer (not that you'd dare bring one of those to the beach or anything).

4) Croquettes From Winedown

You’re probably familiar with Meltdown and their super cheesy toasties, but further cheese-based magic happens when the Montague Street location becomes Winedown every Friday and Saturday evening from 17:00 - 21:00. Wine, cocktails and small plates are on offer, and these cheesy croquettes are kind of genius as they mirror the flavours of the toasties, coming in hey pesto, spicy cajun, mac mama, rib-melt, and smoked fungi varieties. It’s like a toastie, but even more convenient.

5) The Cure from Secret Sandwich Society

Okay, we don’t know what this is actually supposed to cure but we’re definitely feeling a little faint, have a tickle in our throats, and we’re not sure if this raised temperature is from illness or anticipation. Serving from MVP on Upper Clanbrassil Street, Secret Sandwich Society have created a toasted sandwich that sounds so good, we don’t know why we've never seen it before. Potato gratin, smoked Drumlin cheese, toasted sourdough malt. Oooooooooft.
